Sport Empowers Disabled Youth (SEDY) project

The Erasmus+ funded SEDY (Sport Empowers Disabled Youth) project aimed to contribute to increase physical activity of children with a disability, especially through a better matching of the demand and the supply. We are convinced that the participation of children in sport activities contributes to the social, emotional and physical development of children. The professorship “Kracht van Sport” (Power of Sport) from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) and Inholland University of Applied Sciences was the project leader of this Erasmus+ funded project.

The project ran from 2015 until 2017. In this period we obtained more knowledge of the fit between demand and supply considering sport for children with a disability and the best ways to support this group.

The final goal was to increase the sport participation of children with a disability, and thereby to increase the social integration of this group.
