Hier werkt zij mee aan meerdere projecten.
- Delphi studie naar meetinstrumenten en fysiotherapeutische behandeling na kritieke ziekte (compleet: publicatie link toevoegen?)
- Ervaringen van patiënten en hun naasten na kritieke ziekte
- Verbeteren van de fysiotherapeutische nazorg rondom fysiek herstel na intensive care opname.
- Valideren van een cardio-pulmonaire exercise test voor patiënten met post-intensive care syndroom
- Ontwikkelen, implementeren en evalueren e-learning 'Physiotherapy in the ICU' in het BSc (hons) curriculum van de European School of Physiotherapy.
Naast onderzoeker werkt zij als docent bij de European School of Physiotherapy, (opleiding Fysiotherapie) en is betrokken bij het vak Evidence Based Practice en de ICU module. Ook begeleidt zij studenten tijdens hun Bachelor thesis en is een mentor.
Mel is afgestudeerd als fysiotherapeut aan Thim van der Laan in Utrecht. En heeft de master Fysiotherapie Wetenschappen aan de Universiteit van Stellenbosch (cum laude) behaald.
