PromovendusAmely Verreijen (1978) is promovendus bij het lectoraat Voeding en Beweging. Haar onderzoek richt zich op het optimaliseren van de behandeling van ouderen met obesitas: hoe zorg je ervoor dat ouderen afvallen met behoud van spiermassa? Ze onderzoekt hierin onder andere de rol van voedingseiwit en krachtraining.
Na haar studie Voeding en Gezondheid (2001) aan de Wageningen Universiteit werkte Amely een aantal jaren binnen deze organisatie als toegevoegd docent op de vakgroep Humane Voeding. In 2004 startte ze als docent voeding en onderzoek bij de opleiding Voeding en Diëtetiek aan de HvA. Het lesgeven aan hbo-studenten doet ze nog steeds met veel enthousiasme.
Van 2010 tot 2014 was Amely als coördinator betrokken bij de opzet en uitvoering van het onderzoeksproject ‘de Muscle Preservation Study’ en de ‘WelPrex’ studie. Hierbij werd het effect van een eiwitrijke voeding en weerstandstraining onderzocht op behoud van vetvrije massa tijdens het afvallen. Het onderzoek richtte zich op ouderen met overgewicht. Met behulp van de Promotiebeurs voor leraren werkt Amely momenteel diverse data uit voor publicatie.
