dr. F. Paulus (Frederique) PhD
Lector Critical CareFrederique Paulus is professor of 'Quality of Intensive Care Care, in particular for the invasively ventilated patient'. She works as a nurse and senior researcher at the Adult Intensive Care Unit of Amsterdam UMC, location AMC. Her doctoral thesis was entitled Manual Hyperinflation: Preclinical and Clinical Studies.
Frederique Paulus has been a Professor of Critical Care by Special Appointment at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) since March 2019. Her research group focuses on the nursing aspects of the care at and scientific research into IC units, especially the care of and research into artificially ventilated patients. She has set up and successfully completed large multicentre studies as a researcher and project leader.
Frederique is a member of the interprofessional team of principal and senior researchers of the Intensive Care Unit of the Amsterdam UMC. Frederique is an advisor and lecturer at the AUAS Master's programme in Critical Care. She is a member of the implementation network group of the Amsterdam UMC, location AMC. This group advises researchers on implementation issues related to research projects. Internationally, Frederique works closely with nursing researchers at King's College London and Queens University Belfast on artificial ventilation and airway management research.
Frederique plays an active part in national and international networks in the field of critical care. She is chair of the science committee of the European federation of Critical Care Nurses associations and a board member of the Dutch Association of Intensive Care Nurses.
