EvenementEver thought to combine the joy of generating images with the thrill of a rap battle? Enter the prompt battle. In collaboration with The Hmm, a platform for internet culture, we organise this battle. Instead of coming up with bars about your opponent or showing off your best moves, a prompt battle challenges you to generate an image using AI text-to-image software that goes way harder than your rival’s. During this prompt battle, you will battle it out on stage to see who can create the most original, funniest, or weirdest AI generated image and wins the main prize!
Artificial Intelligence
With the exponential growth of generative AI last year, prompt engineering has become a must-have skill. To better collaborate with AI, learning how to communicate with these Large Language Models is fundamental. A good prompt saves time, and therefore computer processing power which in turn is better for our environment. The prompt battle is a playful way to master prompt engineering skills together.
This event is a collaboration with the Centre of Expertise Applied Artificial Intelligence.

How does it work?
Sign in for free using the above button. Tick the box whether you want to join the battle or sit in the audience and be a judge. At the event we will pick eight contestants who will battle it out in several rounds against each other using DALL-E. In the different rounds you will get questions like ‘Recreate this shown image as best as possible’, or ‘Generate an image of your opponent at your favorite holiday destination’. The people not battling form the jury and decide together who will win this epic battle.

About Lilian Stolk
Lilian Stolk is director of The Hmm, a platform for internet culture, and emoji expert. She cares about understanding the Internet and has a special focus on internet languages and the rise of image-based communication. She published Het zonderwoorden-boek (2018) about her research on emoji and launched the app Emoji Voter (2019) to democratise emoji. Currently, The Hmm has her full focus. With events, workshops and online research dossiers The Hmm contextualises and unravels digital cultural phenomena.
