Toolbox

Key of the project is a toolbox that can support schools to address four fundamental questions regarding the level of inclusiveness within the school:

  • What are the characteristics of inclusive school communities?
  • What are inspiring examples of inclusive school communities? How does it look like in practice?
  • How inclusive is our school community?
  • What can we do to strengthen the inclusiveness of our school community?

The toolbox consists of four practical tools:

  1. A conceptual framework that will support a conceptual understanding of key elements of inclusiveness school communities and of how inclusive school cultures can be developed. This can help to strengthen awareness, foster deeper understanding and to create a common conceptual basis.
  2. An inspirational tool consisting of inspirational and practical examples [link to subpage] (vignettes) of what an inclusive school community looks like and how it is built. These vignettes aim to inspire school leaders and teachers.
  3. An analytical tool [link to subpage] to help schools to evaluate the degree of inclusiveness of their communities and to identify areas for improvement and possible next steps of development towards a more inclusive school community.
  4. Implementation tools that can help schools to take next steps in strengthening the inclusiveness within their school community

The different tools will be developed in close collaboration between universities and schools in a process of design-testing-evaluation-adaptation. Draft versions and final versions of elements of the toolbox will be published throughout the timeline of the project (2021-2024).
