Sport Studies - track ISMB

As there are more prospective students than study places, Sport Studies - track International Sports, Management and Business (ISMB) has a limited number of study places (quota). Therefore, the programme has a selection procedure. If you have decided to apply for Sport Studies-track ISMB, please read the information below carefully and submit your application before the deadline of 15 January 2018.

For the 2018-2019 academic year, our application procedure is as follows.

  1. Sign up in Studielink between 1 October 2017 and 15 January 2018. Signing up in Studielink is free. Once you have been admitted to the Sport Studies programme, you will start paying tuition fees and additional study-related costs. The final payment date for the tuition fee is 31 August for those wishing to study in the academic year that commences on that date.
  2. When you have signed up in Studielink, you will automatically receive an email from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS) with an online questionnaire and a link to sign up for the selection day. 
  3. When you have signed up in Studielink and possess or are about to obtain a non-Dutch diploma, you will automatically receive an invitation by email from the Central Student Administration (CSA) to submit copies of your non-Dutch diplomas and previous education for evaluation. We want you to feel confident about your decision to apply for Sport Studies – track ISMB. This is an important decision for your future career. Before you apply, have a look at the checklist below to make sure that this programme is the right fit for your future goals.

Succesful Sport Studies - track ISMB canditates:

  • Have a passion for sport, but also have other ambitions. Sport is only practiced in the first two years as part of the overall curriculum.
  • Want a business and management degree and are interested in subjects like management, economics or business.
  • Understand that the programme has a full study load. Throughout the programme, you can expect to spend 20 hours a week on independent study, plus an additional 20 hours on lessons, exams and group projects. If you plan to work as well, we recommend you limit it to 10 hours per week.

The selection for the academic year 2018-2019 will take place on the following dates:

  • Friday 2 February 2018
  • Saturday 10 February 2018

After your enrolment in Studielink you will receive an e-mail from the AUAS with an online questionnaire and a link to sign up for the selection day. Make sure that you complete the questionnaire and select a date for the selection day as soon as possible after receiving this message. If you wait too long, your preferred date could be full.

Candidates who live abroad can do the selection day remotely. Make sure you sign up for the remote selection day after you complete your application and filled out the online questionnaire. The programme will contact you about the steps that need to be taken.

Prior to the selection day you need to fill out an online questionnaire and create an application video, which give an idea of your motivation and your involvement in sport.

The selection day of Sport Studies – track ISMB consists of:

  • a physical sport test (shuttle run);
  • an interview;
  • a written theory exam which tests your English, mathematics level, analytical skills and your knowledge regarding the world of international sport management.  

After you signed up for the selection day, you will receive an email from the AUAS with information about the selection day programme, a link to the online material for the written theory exam and instructions on how to upload your application video. Make sure that you upload your video before the selection day.

For the selection day you need to bring sportswear and indoor shoes.

Each prospective student who participates in the selection will receive a ranking number through Studielink on 15 April 2018. The ranking number is based on your results in the selection. If your ranking number falls within the maximum number of places in 300 (80 for Sport Studies – track ISMB, 220 for the Dutch track Sportkunde – leerroute SM&O), you will also receive a placement certificate through Studielink on 15 April. You must accept you placement through Studielink within two weeks.

If you are not selected, you can still be admitted to the programme after 30 April. The AUAS will admit candidates from the waiting list until 15 August 2018 at the latest.
