Rebecca Louise Breuer studied fine arts, art history and teaching at the University of the Arts in Utrecht, and philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. She obtained a PhD in Fashion and Philosophy from the University of Amsterdam with a dissertation entitled Fashion Beyond Identity: The Three Ecologies of Dress. In this dissertation she examines the effects of non-representational thinking upon sustainability in fashion and dress.
Her current research interest lies in the interconnection between technologies, the body and the changed states of perception that are potentially evoked. In short, philosophy of human-technology relations. In addition, she is interested in the ways in which art and philosophy can comment on, and challenge a culture in which identity performances, be they digital or otherwise, prevail.
